So this
past weekend I had the opportunity to go on a retreat with my fellowship on
campus, it was an amazing time of meeting new people, bonding with some of my
kids (freshman) and just stepping back from the world of college studying.
While at
the retreat something the speaker said which I had heard before that I needed
to hear again was that in our relationship with Christ as we grow closer to
Christ we begin to desire to see the same things, and this is key. The reason
why we are choosing to serve at Sonshine this summer is that we’re in love with
God and that this way of serving is a way that we express our desire to serve
God and see God’s kingdom come. And studying God and Jesus and who He is and
always has been is something God desires for us and as our relationships with
Christ grow so should our desire to study His word though the bible, character
through Christian community and service.
This
afternoon I was with several other College Lifers (the fellowship I go to) and
we were looking over the scripture that we were gonna go over for growth groups
and this really stuck out to me out of Jeremiah 29, 3 You
will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity” The amazing thing is that
God promises is that when we seek him entirely, in prayer, in faith, in work
and in STUDY, that he will arrive always by our side and deliver us from
captivity, just as he did for the people of Judah and Jerusalem who were sent
into exile in Babylon.
And this
is totally random, but I’m writing this in my apt living room and me and some
of my roommates just got this song stuck in our heads, I’m just spreading the
love.
