For the past 6 months I have become especially intrigued with prayer. With what it looks like, how its practiced, who, when, where, in what position, all of the workings of it. And I continue to be reminded that prayer is not about me speaking to God. So often find myself rambling and babbling on about my own life and my own desires for MY WILL to come into effect. I am quick to speak and expel information about the "right now" and completely fall into a prayer, and a life, lived centered on me. (Insert the unbalanced hanger model)
Foster's words creep into my heart as a pure and honest challenge. "Courage comes into play when through prayer you discover that approaching Christ through prayer has little to do with mastering prayer techniques and everything to do with bearing witness to the greatest, sovereignty, wildness, and mystery of Christ invading your world." Courage is allowing my tongue to cease rapid movement and allow Christ to be the center. (Insert, with celebration, the balanced life hanger model!)
