This week's scriptural end notes kick some serious houseboat butt!
1. Luke 18:18-23 - I am so quick to judge the man and say, "He does not believe in Jesus!" However read again carefully and He affirms Jesus and Jesus affirms him. Jesus uses a word "Know" for the mans understanding of the commandments. The "know" means to know intimately. Jesus affirms the mans relationship with God, Jesus also affirms that the man has been following Jesus as well. I am so quick to judge and compare myself with the young man and say, "look how good I am doing!" What I fail to see is that this man had the courage to come before Jesus and expose himself in the sense that this man knew that eternal life was more than following the commandments! He knew that Jesus is the answer, the Way, the Truth, The Life!!! To often I don't even come to Jesus to ask him heart exposing things because I don't want to admit they are in me!
2. Ephesians 4:17-32 - Hardening our hearts in all things leads to darkened understanding, ignorance, and separation from the life of God. Paul encourages us to "Put off" our old self. "Be made new" in the attitude of our minds. "Put on" the new self. "Put off" all that is false and not reality, Anger leading to sin, footholds, stealing, unwholesome talk, bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander, and malice. "Put on" Kindness, compassion, and forgiveness.
Friends- what we set our minds on we give flesh to! Let us continue to dwell/think/study on the things of God and watch the incarnation of Christ manifest in our daily lives!!!
