Study

"What are you studying?" I saw this question and realized I spend a lot of my time studying for my classes. Being on the quarter system, it feels like I always have some class to study for because once midterms end, then I need to focus on studying for finals. I mean this kind of study is important so I can pass my classes, but it isn't life-giving and it certainly isn't going to feed my soul.

"What can our minds dwell on? True, honorable, just, pure, lovely, gracious, excellent, worthy of praise...we are left to let our minds dwell on God and God alone!" I love this and how there truly is nothing else in this world but God who meets all of these, so why would we study and dwell on anything or anyone else? School work and anything else we can study is not true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, gracious, or excellent, and it definitely is not worthy of praise. So why do we often let that study take the place of studying God and His word?

I love what Stef wrote when she said that "what matters most is not how much you study, but what you are studying." I don't have to study my Bible for hours upon hours every day (because that just isn't practical, but it would definitely be nice to) but I need to take the time to actually sit down and STUDY (not just read) it daily. Honestly, I'm the person who wakes up each morning to read my Bible and pray, but when I stop to think about it, how often do I truly STUDY God's word?

"Knowledge of the truth will set us free." How are we supposed to know God's will for us and know the truth if we don't study His word? There is a ton of great stuff in the Bible but if we just read it to say we read our Bible and don't really study it, then we are gaining no real and true knowledge of God and His plan.
