Meditation

Honestly, when I think of meditation, the first thing that comes to mind is somebody sitting on the ground, legs crossed, with arms out and fingers together, saying "ohhhmmnn." But what is the point in that?

I really liked how it said, "Christian meditation has nothing to do with emptying our mind." It is musing, pondering, reflecting and considering what God has to say to us. This sounds like a way more fulfilling form of meditation to me.

"Instead of drinking in His presence, I often substitute meditation on the Lord for activities that I think will refresh me fully: sleep, coffee, friends, no work, nature."  I love that by meditating on God he will refresh us fully. Often I think that in life and out on the water sleep is something I always look to for the renewing of my mind and body. I mean who doesn't love sleep?! But, no matter how much sleep I get I'm still tired and want more. It's great to know that by meditation on God I can be completely refreshed and renewed, but unfortunately I don't take advantage of that enough.

"Stop and listen." This is one of the hardest things for me to do. I hardly ever take the time to let God talk to me. When I pray and read my Bible I generally ramble on and leave no time for God to show me what he wants me to learn or gain from his word. This is definitely an area in my faith that I will be working on in the months to come and hope to improve on in the rest of my life.

All of your posts have been super encouraging and I love reading your thoughts on these topics! I love you all and hope everybody's week has been great!
