You cannot live above those whom you serve, often this means lowering ones own status to that of the lowest form possible. A slave! In other words, complete and utter humility. This semester I took a beginners soccer class, even though i have years of high level experience. My TA was the only one who was around my same skill level and i noticed something. He wasnt flaunting it, being in the position he was, he could have easily embarrassed the other students or put the team on his back so to say. However, he didnt, what he did do let them play and teach them slowly and increase the intensity throughout the semester until at the end many of the students knew their way around a soccer field.
And so i began thinking about the servanthood and humility of being in leadership. Dying to ones own desires in order to carry out the abrahamic covenant. Modeling, serving these are the invisible tools of how people bring the gospel to the people. However, we cannot do service without being a servant, a lesson i have been teaching myself over and over again. And so this summer, i ask you all a question, please remind of this as much as seems necessary?
Thank you all.
